‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar saw me playing with pebbles during prayer. When he finished his prayer, he forbade me (to do so) and said: Do as the Apostle (ﷺ) used to do. I asked him: How would the Messenger of Allah(ﷺ) do? He said: When he sat during the prayer (for reciting the tashahhud), he placed his right hand on his right thigh, and clenched all his fingers, and pointed with the finger which is adjacent to the thumb, and he placed his left hand on his left thigh.

عبداللہ بن عمر نے مجھے نماز میں کنکریوں سے کھیلتے ہوئے دیکھا، جب وہ نماز سے فارغ ہوئے تو مجھے منع کیا اور فرمایا: جیسا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کیا کرتے تھے، اسی طرح کرو۔تو میں نے کہا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ایسا کیسے کیا؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ جب وہ نماز میں بیٹھتے تو اپنا دایاں ہاتھ اپنی داہنی ران پر رکھتے، اپنی تمام انگلیاں بند کرتے، انگوٹھے کے پاس والی انگلی سے اشارہ کرتے اور اپنا بایاں ہاتھ اپنی بائیں ران پر رکھتے۔
