The Messenger o Allah ﷺ said: “If they are equally versed in recitation, then the one who has most knowledge of the Sunnah; if they are equal with regard to (the knowledge of) the Sunnah, then the earliest of them to emigrate (to Madina)”. He did not narrate the words; “ The earliest of them in recitation”. Abu Dawud said: Hajjaj bin Artata reported from Ismail: Do not sit in the place of honour of anyone except with his permission.

نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: اگر لوگ قرأت میں برابر ہوں تو وہ شخص امامت کرے جو سنت کا سب سے بڑا عالم ہو، ا گر اس میں بھی برابر ہوں تو وہ شخص امامت کرے جس نے پہلے ہجرت کی ہو ۔ اس روایت میں«فأقدمهم قرائة» کے الفاظ نہیں ہیں۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: اسے حجاج بن ارطاۃ نے اسماعیل سے روایت کیا ہے، اس میں ہے: تم کسی کے تکرمہ ( مسند وغیرہ ) پر اس کی اجازت کے بغیر نہ بیٹھو ۔
