It has been narrated to me that the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: The Prayer of a man in sitting condition is half the prayer (wins him half the reward of prayer). I came to him and found him prayer in sitting condition. I placed my hand on my head (in surprise). He said: what is the matter, Abdullah bin Amr? I said; Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم you have been reported to me as saying: the prayer of a man in sitting condition is half the prayer, but you are praying in sitting condition. He said: yes, but I am not like one of you.

مجھ سے بیان کیا گیا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا ہے: بیٹھ کر پڑھنے والے شخص کی نماز آدھی نماز ہے ، میں آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آیا تو میں نے آپ کو بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھتے دیکھا تو میں نے ( تعجب سے ) اپنا ہاتھ اپنے سر پر رکھ لیا، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے پوچھا: عبداللہ بن عمرو! کیا بات ہے؟ ، میں نے کہا: اللہ کے رسول! مجھ سے بیان کیا گیا ہے کہ آپ نے فرمایا ہے: بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھنے والے کو نصف ثواب ملتا ہے اور آپ بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھ رہے ہیں؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ہاں سچ ہے، لیکن میں تم میں سے کسی کی طرح نہیں ہوں ۔
