The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم as saying: when one of you is in doubt about his prayer (i.e. how much he has prayed), he should throw away his doubt and base his prayer on what he is sure of. When he is sure about the completion of his prayer, he should make two prostrations (at the end of the prayer). If the prayer is complete, the additional rak’ah and the two prostrations will be supererogatory prayer. If the prayer is incomplete, the additional rak’ahs will compensate it, and the two prostrations will be a disgrace for the devil. Abu Dawood said: Hisham bin Sad and Muhammad bin Mutarrif reported it from Zaid, from Ata' bin Yasar, from Abu Saeed Al-Khurdri رضی اللہ عنہ , from the prophet ﷺ. رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: جب تم میں سے کسی کو اپنی نماز میں شک ہو جائے ( کہ کتنی رکعتیں پڑھی ہیں ) تو شک دور کرے اور یقین کو بنیاد بنائے، پھر جب اسے نماز پوری ہو جانے کا یقین ہو جائے تو دو سجدے کرے، اگر اس کی نماز ( درحقیقت ) پوری ہو چکی تھی تو یہ رکعت اور دونوں سجدے نفل ہو جائیں گے، اور اگر پوری نہیں ہوئی تھی تو اس رکعت سے پوری ہو جائے گی اور یہ دونوں سجدے شیطان کو ذلیل و خوار کرنے والے ہوں گے ۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: اسے ہشام بن سعد اور محمد بن مطرف نے زید سے، زید نے عطاء بن یسار سے، عطاء نے ابو سعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ سے، اور ابوسعید نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے روایت کیا ہے، اور ابوخالد کی حدیث زیادہ مکمل ہے۔
