حَدَّثَنَا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنّ أُمَّ الْفَضْلِ بِنْتَ الْحَارِثِ سَمِعَتْهُ وَهُوَ يَقْرَأُ وَالْمُرْسَلَاتِ عُرْفًا، فَقَالَتْ: يَا بُنَيَّ، لَقَدْ ذَكَّرْتَنِي بِقِرَاءَتِكَ هَذِهِ السُّورَةِ، إِنَّهَا لَآخِرُ مَا سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْرَأُ بِهَا فِي الْمَغْرِبِ .

Um al-fadl daughter of al-Harith رضی اللہ عنہا said: I heard Ibn Abbas رضی اللہ عنہا reciting wa’l-mursalat urfan (surah lxxxvii). She said; sonny you have reminded me of this surah by your recitation. Thie is the last surah which I heard the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم reciting in the sunset prayer.

ام فضل بنت حارث رضی اللہ عنہا نے انہیں «والمرسلات عرفا» پڑھتے ہوئے سنا تو کہنے لگیں: میرے بیٹے! تم نے اس سورۃ کو پڑھ کر مجھے یاد دلا دیا، یہی آخری سورت ہے جسے میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو مغرب میں پڑھتے ہوئے سنا۔
