The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم would offer the Zuhr prayer when the sun had passed the meridian; he would offer Asr prayer after which one of us would visit the skirts of Madina and return him while the sun was still bright; I forgot what he said about the Maghrib prayer; he did not fear postponing the Isha prayer until a third of night had passed, or he said: until the midnight had passed. He would dislike sleeping before it or talking after it. And he would offer the Fajr prayer when a man could recognize his neighbor whom he recognized well; and he would recite from sixty to a hundred verses during it.

رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ظہر سورج ڈھل جانے پر پڑھتے اور عصر اس وقت پڑھتے کہ ہم میں سے کوئی آدمی مدینہ کے آخری کنارے پر جا کر وہاں سے لوٹ آتا، اور سورج زندہ رہتا ( یعنی صاف اور تیز رہتا ) اور مغرب کو میں بھول گیا، اور عشاء کو تہائی رات تک مؤخر کرنے میں کوئی حرج محسوس نہیں کرتے، پھر انہوں نے کہا: آدھی رات تک مؤخر کرنے میں ( کوئی حرج محسوس نہیں کرتے ) فرمایا: آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم عشاء سے پہلے سونے ۱؎ کو اور عشاء کے بعد بات چیت کو برا جانتے تھے ۲؎، اور فجر پڑھتے اور حال یہ ہوتا کہ ہم میں سے ایک اپنے اس ساتھی کو جسے وہ اچھی طرح جانتا ہوتا، اندھیرے کی وجہ سے پہچان نہیں پاتا، اس میں آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ساٹھ آیتوں سے لے کر سو آیتوں تک پڑھتے تھے۔
