The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم delivered a speech to us; meanwhile al-Hasan and al-Husayn رضی اللہ عنہما came upon there stumbling, wearing red shirts. He came down from the pulpit, took them and ascended it with them. He then said: Allah truly said: Your property and your children are only trial (Ixiv. 15). I saw both of them, and I could not wait. Afterwards he resumed the speech.

رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ہمیں خطبہ دے رہے تھے، اتنے میں حسن اور حسین رضی اللہ عنہما دونوں لال قمیص پہنے ہوئے گرتے پڑتے آئے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم منبر پر سے اتر پڑے، انہیں اٹھا لیا اور لے کر منبر پر چڑھ گئے پھر فرمایا: اللہ نے سچ فرمایا ہے: «إنما أموالكم وأولادكم فتنة» ( التغابن: ۱۵ ) تمہارے مال اور اولاد آزمائش ہیں میں نے ان دونوں کو دیکھا تو میں صبر نہ کر سکا ، پھر آپ نے دوبارہ خطبہ دینا شروع کر دیا۔
