حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ، أَنَّ أَبَاهُ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي صَلَاةِ الْمَغْرِبِ بِنَحْوِ مَا تَقْرَءُونَ وَالْعَادِيَاتِ وَنَحْوِهَا مِنَ السُّوَرِ . قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد: هَذَا يَدُلُّ عَلَى أَنَّ ذَاكَ مَنْسُوخٌ، قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد: وَهَذَا أَصَحُّ.

His father (‘Umrah) used to recite the surahs as you recite like Wa’l-Adiyat (surah c). Abu Dawud said: This indicates that those (traditions indicating long surahs) are abrogated, and this is more sound tradition.

ان کے والد مغرب میں ایسی ہی سورۃ پڑھتے تھے جیسے تم پڑھتے ہو مثلاً سورۃ العادیات اور اسی جیسی سورتیں۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: یہ حدیث اس بات پر دلالت کرتی ہے کہ وہ ۱؎ حدیث منسوخ ہے۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: یہ روایت زیادہ صحیح ہے۔
