حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ حُسَيْنٍ الْمُعَلِّمِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ، أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ صَلَاةِ الرَّجُلِ قَاعِدًا، فَقَالَ: صَلَاتُهُ قَائِمًا أَفْضَلُ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ قَاعِدًا، وَصَلَاتُهُ قَاعِدًا عَلَى النِّصْفِ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ قَائِمًا، وَصَلَاتُهُ نَائِمًا عَلَى النِّصْفِ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ قَاعِدًا .

He asked the prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم about the prayer a man offers in sitting condition. He replied: his prayer in standing condition is better than his prayer in sitting condition, and his prayer in sitting condition is half the prayer he offers in standing condition, and his prayer in lying condition is half the prayer he offers in sitting condition.

انہوں نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھنے والے شخص کے متعلق پوچھا تو آپ نے فرمایا: آدمی کا کھڑے ہو کر نماز پڑھنا بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھنے سے افضل ہے اور بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھنے میں کھڑے ہو کر پڑھنے کے مقابلہ میں نصف ثواب ہے اور لیٹ کر پڑھنے میں بیٹھ کر پڑھنے کے مقابلہ میں نصف ثواب ملتا ہے ۔
