I heard the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم say: When the iqamah is pronounced for prayer, do not come to it running, but come walking (slowly). You should observe tranquility. The part of the prayer you get (along with the imam) offer it, and the part you miss complete it (afterwards). Abu Dawud said: The version narrated by al-Zubaidi, Ibn Abi Dhi’b, Ibrahim bin Saad, Mamar, Shuaib bin Abi Hamzah on the authority of al-Zuhri has the words: “the part you miss then complete it”. Ibn ‘Uyainah alone narrated from al-Zuhri the words “then offer it afterwards”. And Muhammad bin Amr narrated from Abu Salamah on the authority of Abu Hurairah رضی اللہ عنہ , and Jafar bin Rabiah narrated from al-A’raj on the authority of Abu Hurairah رضی اللہ عنہ the words “then complete it”. And Ibn Masud رضی اللہ عنہ narrated from the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم and Abu Qatadah and Anas رضی اللہ عنہ reported from the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم the words” then complete it”.

میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو فرماتے سنا: جب نماز کی تکبیر کہہ دی جائے تو نماز کے لیے دوڑتے ہوئے نہ آؤ، بلکہ اطمینان و سکون کے ساتھ چلتے ہوئے آؤ، تو اب جتنی پاؤ اسے پڑھ لو، اور جو چھوٹ جائے اسے پوری کر لو ۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: زبیدی، ابن ابی ذئب، ابراہیم بن سعد، معمر اور شعیب بن ابی حمزہ نے زہری سے اسی طرح: «وما فاتكم فأتموا» کے الفاظ روایت کئے ہیں، اور ابن عیینہ نے تنہا زہری سے لفظ: «فاقضوا» روایت کی ہے۔ محمد بن عمرو نے ابوسلمہ سے، انہوں نے ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے، اور جعفر بن ربیعہ نے اعرج سے، انہوں نے ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے لفظ: «فأتموا» سے روایت کی ہے، اور اسے ابن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے اور ابوقتادہ رضی اللہ عنہ اور انس رضی اللہ عنہ نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے روایت کیا ہے اور ان سب نے: «فأتموا» کہا ہے۔
