We asked Jabir رضی اللہ عنہ about the time of the prayer of the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم. He said: He used to offer the Zuhr prayer in the midday heat, the Asr prayer when the sun was bright, the Maghrib prayer when the sun had completely set, the Isha prayer early when many people were present, but late if there were few, and the Fajr prayer in the darkness (of the dawn).

ہم نے جابر رضی اللہ عنہ سے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی نماز کے اوقات کے متعلق پوچھا تو انہوں نے کہا: آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ظہر سورج ڈھل جانے پر پڑھتے تھے، عصر ایسے وقت پڑھتے کہ سورج زندہ رہتا، مغرب سورج ڈوب جانے پر پڑھتے، اور عشاء اس وقت جلدی ادا کرتے جب آدمی زیادہ ہوتے، اور جب کم ہوتے تو دیر سے پڑھتے، اور فجر غلس ( اندھیرے ) میں پڑھتے تھے۔
