Samurah Ibn Jundub and 'Imran Ibn Husayn رضی اللہ عنہما had a discussion (about the periods of silence in prayer). Samurah then said that he remembered two periods of silence from the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم; one when he uttered the takbir and the other when he finished reciting: Not of those with whom Thou art angry, nor of those who go astray (i. 7). Samurah remembered that, but Imran ibn Husayn rejected it. Then they wrote about it to Ubayy Ibn Kab رضی اللہ عنہ . He wrote a letter to them and gave a reply to them that Samurah رضی اللہ عنہ remembered correctly.

سمرہ بن جندب اور عمران بن حصین رضی اللہ عنہما نے آپس میں ( سکتہ کا ) ذکر کیا تو سمرہ بن جندب رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ انہوں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے دو سکتے یاد رکھے ہیں: ایک سکتہ اس وقت جب آپ تکبیر تحریمہ کہتے اور دوسرا سکتہ جب آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم «غير المغضوب عليهم ولا الضالين» کی قرآت سے فارغ ہوتے، ان دونوں سکتوں کو سمرہ نے یاد رکھا، لیکن عمران بن حصین نے اس کا انکار کیا تو دونوں نے اس کے متعلق ابی بن کعب رضی اللہ عنہ کو خط لکھا تو انہوں نے ان دونوں کے خط کے جواب میں لکھا کہ سمرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے ( ٹھیک ) یاد رکھا ہے۔
