حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ، حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ غِيَاثٍ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ خَيْرٍ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّرَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: لَوْ كَانَ الدِّينُ بِالرَّأْيِ، لَكَانَ أَسْفَلُ الْخُفِّ أَوْلَى بِالْمَسْحِ مِنْ أَعْلَاهُ، وَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَمْسَحُ عَلَى ظَاهِرِ خُفَّيْهِ .

If the religion were based on opinion, it would be more important to wipe the under part of the shoe than the upper but I have seen the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم wiping over the upper part of his shoes.

اگر دین ( کا معاملہ ) رائے اور قیاس پر ہوتا، تو موزے کے نچلے حصے پر مسح کرنا اوپری حصے پر مسح کرنے سے بہتر ہوتا، حالانکہ میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو اپنے دونوں موزوں کے اوپری حصے پر مسح کرتے ہوئے دیکھا ہے ۔
