حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ، وَحَمَّادٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْجَدَلِيِّ، عَنْ خُزَيْمَةَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ " الْمَسْحُ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ لِلْمُسَافِرِ ثَلاَثَةُ أَيَّامٍ وَلِلْمُقِيمِ يَوْمٌ وَلَيْلَةٌ " . قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ رَوَاهُ مَنْصُورُ بْنُ الْمُعْتَمِرِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيِّ بِإِسْنَادِهِ قَالَ فِيهِ وَلَوِ اسْتَزَدْنَاهُ لَزَادَنَا.

The Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said: The time limit for wiping over the socks for a traveller is three days (and three nights) and for a resident it is one day and one night. Abu Dawud said: Another version adds: Had we requested him to extend (the period of wiping), he would have extended.

آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”مسافر کے لیے موزوں پر مسح تین دن ہے اور مقیم کے لیے ایک دن اور ایک رات ہے۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: اسے منصور بن المتمیر نے ابراہیم تیمی کی سند سے روایت کیا ہے، جس میں انہوں نے کہا: "اگر ہم اس سے زیادہ مانگتے تو وہ ہمیں زیادہ دیتے۔"
