وَحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ الزَّهْرَانِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّادٌ وَهُوَ ابْنُ الْعَوَّامِ، حَدَّثَنَا الشَّيْبَانِيُّ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ زِرَّ بْنَ حُبَيْشٍ، عَنْ قَوْلِ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: {فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوْسَيْنِ أَوْ أَدْنَى} [النجم: 9]، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ، «أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى جِبْرِيلَ لَهُ سِتُّمِائَةِ جَنَاحٍ».

I asked Zirr bin Hubaish about the words of Allah (the Mighty and Great): So he was (at a distance) of two bows or nearer (al-Qur'an, Iiii 8). He said: Ibn Mas'ud رضی اللہ عنہ informed me that, verily, the Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) saw Gabriel and he had six hundred wings.

میں نے زربن حبیش سے اللہ تعالیٰ کے اس فرمان کے بارے میں سوال کیا : ’’وہ دو کمان کے برابر فاصلے پر تھے یا اس سے بھی زیادہ قریب تھے ۔ ‘ ‘ زر نے کہا : مجھے عبد اللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ نےخبر دی کہ رسو ل اللہﷺنےجبریل علیہ السلام کو دیکھا ، ان کے چھ سو پر تھے ۔
