وحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ، وَحَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، قَالَا: أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ مَسْعُودٍ، قَالَ: «مَا أَنْتَ بِمُحَدِّثٍ قَوْمًا حَدِيثًا لَا تَبْلُغُهُ عُقُولُهُمْ، إِلَّا كَانَ لِبَعْضِهِمْ فِتْنَةً»

Abdullah bin Mas’ood رضی اللہ عنہ said: "It is the case that you do not relate to the people a narration which their minds cannot grasp except that it becomes a Fitnah for some of them".

حضرت عبد اللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ نے فرمایا : تم کسی قوم کے سامنے ایسی حدیث بیان نہیں کرتے جس ( کے صحیح مفہوم ) تک ان کی عقلیں نہیں پہنچ سکتیں مگر وہ ان میں سے بعض کے لیے فتنے ( کا موجب ) بن جاتی ہیں ۔
