The Book of Purification • Hadith 540

I heard from 'Uthman b. 'Affan and he was in the courtyard of the mosque, when the Mu'adhdhin (announcer of the prayer) came to him at the time of afternoon prayer. So the ('Uthman) called for the ablution water and performed ablution and then said: By Allah, I am narrating to you a hadith. If there were not a verse in the Book of Allah, I would have never narrated it to you. I heard Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) say: If a Muslim performs ablution and does it well and offers prayer, all his (sins) daring the period from one prayer to another would be pardoned by Allah.

میں نے عثمان بن عفان ‌رضی ‌اللہ ‌عنہ ‌ ‌ سے سنا ، وہ مسجد کے آنگن میں تھے اور عصر کے وقت ان کے پاس مؤذن آیا تو انہوں نے وضو کے لیے پانی منگایا ، وضوکیا ، پھر فرمایا : اللہ کی قسم! میں تمہیں ایک حدیث سناتا ہوں ، اگر کتاب اللہ کی ایک آیت نہ ہوتی تو میں تمہیں نہ سناتا ، میں نے رسول اللہ ﷺ سےسنا ، آپ فرما رہے تھے : ’’ جومسلمان وضو کرے اور اچھی طرح وضو کرے ، پھر نماز پڑھے تو اس کے وہ گناہ معاف کر دیے جاتے ہیں جو اس نماز اور اگلی نماز کے درمیان ہوں گے ۔ ‘ ‘
