It was narrated that Umm Salamah, the wife of the Prophet (ﷺ), said: I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I am a woman with tightly braided hair; should I undo it when performing Ghusl from Janabah?' He said: 'No it is sufficient for you to pour three handfuls of water over your body.'

میں نے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! میں ایک ایسی عورت ہوں کہ اپنے سر کی چوٹی مضبوط باندھتی ہوں، تو کیا اسے غسل جنابت کے وقت کھولوں؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: تمہارے لیے بس یہی کافی ہے کہ اپنے سر پر تین لپ پانی ڈال لو، پھر اپنے پورے جسم پر پانی بہا لو ۔
When the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم intended to take a bath because of sexual defilement, he would begin with his hands and wash them. Then he would wash the joints of his limbs and pour water upon him when he cleansed both his (hands), he would rub them on the wall (to make them perfectly clean with the dust). Then he would perform ablution and pour water over his head.

رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم جب غسل جنابت کا ارادہ کرتے تو پہلے اپنے دونوں پہونچوں کو، پھر اپنے جوڑوں کو دھوتے ( مثلاً کہنی بغل وغیرہ جہاں میل جم جاتا ہے ) اور ان پر پانی بہاتے، جب دونوں ہاتھ صاف ہو جاتے تو انہیں ( مٹی سے ) دیوار پر ملتے، ( تاکہ مکمل صاف ہو جائے ) پھر وضو شروع کرتے اور اپنے سر پر پانی ڈالتے۔

عیاض بن عبد اللہ نےحضرت ابو سعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ سے اورانہوں نے نبی اکرمﷺ سے اور ( سعید ) مقبری نے حضرت ابو ہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے اور انہوں نے نبی ﷺ سے اسی طرح روایت کی جس طرح حضرت ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کی روایت ہے ۔ باب : 35 ۔ نماز چھوڑنے والے پر لفظ کفر کا اطلاق کرنا نمازاسلام کا رکن ہے ۔ اس کا ترک پچھلی احادیث میں ذکر کیے گئے متعدد گناہوں سے زیادہ سنگین ہے ۔ اس پر جس کفر کا اطلاق کیا گیا وہ ان کے کفر سے بڑا کفر ہے ، پھر بھی اس سے توبہ اور آیندہ نماز کی پابندی سے انسان اچھا مسلمان بن جاتا ہے ، اسے دوبارہ اسلام لانے کی ضرورت نہیں ہوتی ۔ جو نماز کا منکر ہے اسے ازسرنو اسلام لانے کی ضرورت ہے ۔
It was narrated that 'Aishah said: We went out with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) in the year of the Farewell Pilgrimage. I (said the Talbiyah) for 'Umrah and I arrived in Makkah while I was menstruating, so I did not perform Tawaf around the House nor between As-Safa and Al-Marwah. I complained about that to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), and he said: 'Undo your braids and comb your hair, and enter (begin the Talbiyah) for Hajj, and leave the 'Umrah.' So I did that, and then when we had completed Hajj, he sent me with 'Abdur-Rahman bin Abi Bakr to At-Tan'im, and I performed 'Umrah. He said: 'This is in place of your 'Umrah.' Abu 'Abdur-Rahman said: This Hadith is Gharib as a narration of Malik from Hisham, from 'Urwah. No one except Asshab reported it.

ہم رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ حجۃ الوداع کے سال نکلے تو میں نے عمرہ کا احرام باندھا، پھر میں مکہ پہنچی تو حائضہ ہو گئی، تو میں نہ خانہ کعبہ کا طواف کر سکی، نہ صفا و مروہ کے بیچ سعی، تو میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے اس کی شکایت کی، تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: اپنا سر کھول لو، کنگھی کر لو، حج کا احرام باندھ لو، اور عمرہ چھوڑ دو ، چنانچہ میں نے ( ایسا ہی ) کیا، تو جب ہم نے حج پورا کر لیا، تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مجھے عبدالرحمٰن بن ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ کے ساتھ تنعیم بھیجا ( وہاں سے میں عمرہ کا احرام باندھ کر مکہ آئی اور ) میں نے عمرہ کیا، تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: یہ تیرے اس عمرہ کی جگہ ہے ( جو حیض کی وجہ سے تجھ سے چھوٹ گیا تھا ) ۔ ابوعبدالرحمٰن ( امام نسائی رحمہ اللہ ) کہتے ہیں: ہشام بن عروہ کے واسطے سے مالک کی یہ حدیث غریب ہے، مالک سے یہ حدیث صرف اشہب نے ہی روایت کی ہے۔

The messenger of Allah ﷺ said: When, the son of Adam recites the Ayat of Sajdah (prostration) and then falls down in prostration, the Satan goes into seclusion and weeps and says: Alas, and in the narration of Abu Kuraib the words are: Woe unto me, the son of Adam was commanded to prostrate, and he prostrated and Paradise was entitled to him and I was commanded to prostrate, but I refused and am doomed to Hell.

رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا : ’’ جب ابن آدم سجدے کی آیت تلاوت کر کے سجدہ کرتا ہے تو شیطان روتے ہوئے وہاں سے ہٹ جاتا ہے ، وہ کہتا ہے : ہائے اس کی ہلاکت ! ( اور ابوکریب کی روایت میں ہے ، ہائے میری ہلاکت! ) ابن آدم کو سجدے کا حکم ملا تو اس نے سجدہ کیا ، اس پر اسے جنت مل گئی اور مجھے سجدے کا حکم ملا تو میں نے انکار کیا ، سو میرے لیے آگ ہے ۔ ‘ ‘
Aishah narrated that when the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) performed Ghusl from Janabah, the vessel (of water) would be placed before him, and he would pour water over his hands before putting then into the vessel. When he had washed his hands, he would put his right hand in the vessel then pour water with his right hand and wash his private parts with his left hand. When he had finished, he would pour water with his right hand over his left hand and wash them both. Then he would rinse his mouth and nose three times, then he would pour water filling both of his hands over his head three times, then he would pour water over his body.

مجھ سے ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے بیان کیا ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم جب غسل جنابت کا ارادہ کرتے تو آپ کے لیے پانی کا برتن رکھا جاتا، آپ برتن میں ہاتھ ڈالنے سے پہلے اپنے دونوں ہاتھوں پر پانی ڈالتے، یہاں تک کہ جب اپنے ہاتھ دھو لیتے تو اپنا داہنا ہاتھ برتن میں داخل کرتے، پھر اپنے داہنے ہاتھ سے پانی ڈالتے اور بائیں سے اپنی شرمگاہ دھوتے، یہاں تک کہ جب فارغ ہو جاتے تو داہنے ہاتھ سے بائیں ہاتھ پر پانی ڈالتے اور دونوں ہاتھ دھوتے، پھر تین بار کلی کرتے، اور ناک میں پانی ڈالتے، پھر اپنے لپ بھربھر کر تین بار اپنے سر پر پانی ڈالتے، پھر اپنے پورے جسم پر ( پانی ) بہاتے۔
The Prophet walked on a very hot day towards Baqi' Al-Gharqad (graveyard of Al-Madinah), and the people were walking behind him. When he heard the sound osxxxf their shoes, it affected his soul so he sat down until he made them go ahead of him, lest that make him feel too proud.

نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سخت گرمی کے دن میں بقیع غرقد نامی مقبرہ سے گزرے، لوگ آپ کے پیچھے چل رہے تھے، جب آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے جوتوں کی چاپ سنی تو آپ کے دل میں خیال آیا، آپ بیٹھ گئے، یہاں تک کہ ان کو اپنے سے آگے کر لیا کہ کہیں آپ کے دل میں کچھ تکبر نہ آ جائے۔
I placed (the vessel of) water for the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم to wash himself because of sexual intercourse. He lowered down the vessel and poured water on his right hand. He then washed it twice or thrice. He then poured water over his private parts and washed them with his left hand. Then he put it on the ground and wiped it. He then rinsed his mouth and snuffed up water, and washed his face and hands. He then poured water over his head and body. Then he moved aside and washed his feet. I handed him a garment, but he began to shake he moved aside and washed his feet. I handed him a garment, but he began to shake off water from his body. I mentioned it to Ibrahim. He said that they (companions) did not think there was any harm in using the garment (to wipe the water), but they disliked its use as a habit. Abu Dawud said: Musaddad said: I asked Abdullah bin Dawud whether they (the companions) disliked to make it a habit. He replied: it (the tradition) goes in a similar way and I found it in a similar way in this book of mine.

It was narrated that Abu Salamah said: I asked 'Aishah about how the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) performed Ghusl from Janabah. She said: 'The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to pour water onto his hands three times, then he would wash his private part, then he would wash his hands, then rinse his mouth and nose, then pour water onto his head three times, then pour water over the rest of his body.'

When Ibn Abbas رضی اللہ عنہما took a bath because of sexual defilement, he poured (water) over his left hand with his right hand seven times. Once he forgot how many times he had poured (water). Therefore he asked me: how many times did I pour (water)? I do not know. He said: may you miss your mother! What prevented you from remembering it? He then performed ablution as he did for prayer and poured water over his skin (body). He then said: this is how the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم purified (himself).

ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما جب غسل جنابت کرتے تو اپنے داہنے ہاتھ سے بائیں ہاتھ پر سات مرتبہ پانی ڈالتے، پھر اپنی شرمگاہ دھوتے، ایک بار وہ بھول گئے کہ کتنی بار پانی ڈالا، تو آپ نے مجھ سے پوچھا کہ میں نے کتنی بار پانی ڈالا؟ میں نے جواب دیا: مجھے یاد نہیں ہے، آپ نے کہا: تیری ماں نہ ہو ۱؎ تمہیں یہ یاد رکھنے میں کون سی چیز مانع ہوئی؟ پھر آپ وضو کرتے جیسے نماز کے لیے وضو کرتے ہیں، پھر اپنے پورے جسم پر پانی بہاتے، پھر کہتے: اسی طرح رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم طہارت حاصل کرتے تھے۔
Abu Salamah (narrated) that he entered upon 'Aishah and asked her about the Ghusl of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) from Janabah. She said: A vessel would be brought to the prophet (ﷺ) then he would pour water on his hand three times and wash them, then he would pour water with his right hand onto his left and wash off whatever was on his thighs. Then he would wash his hands, rinse his mouth and nose, pour water on his head three times, then pour water over the rest of his body.

The Messenger of Allah said: People will come to you seeking knowledge. When you see them say to them, 'Welcome, welcome,' in obedience to the injunctions of the Messenger of Allah and instruct them in knowledge. (One of the narrators said) I said to Al-Hakam: 'What is 'Iqnuhum?' He said: 'Instruct them.'

رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: عنقریب تمہارے پاس کچھ لوگ علم حاصل کرنے آئیں گے، لہٰذا جب تم ان کو دیکھو تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی وصیت کے مطابق انہیں «مرحبا» ( خوش آمدید ) کہو، اور انہیں علم سکھاؤ ۔ محمد بن حارث کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے حکم سے پوچھا کہ «اقنوهم» کے کیا معنی ہیں، تو انہوں نے کہا: «علموهم»، یعنی انہیں علم سکھلاؤ۔
There were fifty prayers (obligatory in the beginning); and (in the beginning of Islam) washing seven times because of sexual defilement (was obligatory); and washing the urine from the cloth seven times (was obligatory). The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم kept on praying to Allah until the number of prayers was reduced to five and washing because of sexual defilement was allowed only once and washing the urine from the clothe was also permitted only once.

پہلے پچاس ( وقت کی ) نماز ( فرض ہوئی ) تھیں، اور غسل جنابت سات بار کرنے کا حکم تھا، اسی طرح پیشاب کپڑے میں لگ جائے تو سات بار دھونے کا حکم تھا، لیکن رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ( اپنی امت پر برابر اللہ تعالیٰ سے تخفیف کا ) سوال کرتے رہے، یہاں تک کہ نماز پانچ کر دی گئیں، جنابت کا غسل ایک بار رہ گیا، اور پیشاب کپڑے میں لگ جائے تو اسے بھی ایک بار دھونا رہ گیا۔
I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) observing this: Between man and polytheism and unbelief is the abandonment of salat.
