The Messenger of Allah said: 'Were it not that it would be too difficult for my Ummah (nation), I would have commanded them to use the tooth stick at every time of prayer.'

The Messenger of Allah said: Use the tooth stick, for the tooth stick purifies the mouth and is pleasing to the Lord. Jibril never came to me but he advised me to use the tooth stick, until I feared that it would be made obligatory for me and my Ummah. Were it not that I fear that it would be too difficult for my Ummah, I would have enjoined it upon them. And I use the tooth stick until I fear that I may make the front of my mouth sore.' (i.e. my gums) (or cause my teeth to fall out due to brushing them so often).

رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: مسواک کرو اس لیے کہ مسواک منہ کو پاک کرنے کا ذریعہ اور اللہ تعالیٰ کی رضا مندی کا سبب ہے، جبرائیل جب بھی میرے پاس آئے تو انہوں نے مجھے مسواک کی وصیت کی، یہاں تک کہ مجھے ڈر ہوا کہ کہیں میرے اور میری امت کے اوپر اسے فرض نہ کر دیا جائے، اور اگر یہ بات نہ ہوتی کہ مجھے ڈر ہے کہ میں اپنی امت کو مشقت میں ڈال دوں گا تو امت پر مسواک کو فرض کر دیتا، اور میں خود اس قدر مسواک کرتا ہوں کہ مجھے ڈر ہونے لگتا ہے کہ کہیں میں اپنے مسوڑھوں کو نہ چھیل ڈالوں ۔

I said to 'Aishah رضی اللہ عنہا : 'Tell me, what was the first thing that the Messenger of Allah did when he entered upon you?' She said: 'The first thing he would do would be to use the tooth stick.'

It was narrated that 'Aishah said: The Messenger of Allah said: 'Ten things are connected to the Fitrah: trimming the mustache, letting the beard grow, using the tooth stick, rinsing out the nostrils with water, clipping the nails, washing the joints, plucking the armpit hairs, shaving the pubic hairs, washing the private parts with water.' (One of the narrators) Zakariyya said: Mus'ab said: 'I have forgotten the tenth thing, but it may have been rinsing out the mouth.'

The Messenger of Allah said: Part of the Fitrah is rinsing out the mouth, rinsing out the nostrils, using the tooth stick, trimming the mustache, clipping the nails, plucking the armpit hairs, shaving the pubic hairs, washing the joints, washing the private parts and circumcision.' The Messenger of Allah said: 'These Hushush (waste areas) are visited (by devils), so when anyone of you enters, let him say: 'Allahumma inni a`udhu bika minal-khubthi wal-khaba'ith (O Allah, I seek refuge with You from male and female devils).' (Sahih) Other chains with similar wording.

The Messenger of Allah said: 'The screen between the Jinn and the nakedness of the sons of Adam is that when a person enters the Kanif, he should say: Bismillah (in the name of Allah).'

The Messenger of Allah said: None of you should fail to say, when he enters his toilet: 'Allahumma inni a`udhu bika minar-rijsin-najis, al-khabithil-mukhbith, ash-Shaitanir-rajim (O Allah, I seek refuge with You from the filthy and impure, the evil one with evil companions, the accursed Shaitan).' (Da'if) Another chain with a slightly different wording from Ibn Abi Maryam who mentioned similar, but he did not say in his narration: Minar-rijsin-najis (From the filthy and the impure) he only said: Minal-khabithil-mukhbith, ash-Shaitanir-rajim (From the evil one with evil companions, the accursed Shaitan).

رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: جب کوئی شخص پاخانہ میں داخل ہو تو اس دعا کے پڑھنے میں کوتاہی نہ کرے: «اللهم إني أعوذ بك من الرجس النجس الخبيث المخبث الشيطان الرجيم» یعنی: اے اللہ! میں تیری پناہ مانگتا ہوں ناپاک، گندے، برے بدکار راندے ہوئے شیطان کے شر سے ۔

The Messenger of Allah said: 'None of you should urinate in his wash area for most of the insinuating thoughts come from that.' (Da'if) Abu 'Abdullah bin Majah said: ( Abul-Hasan said: 'I heard Muhammed bin Yazid saying:) ''Ali bin Muhammed At-Tanafisi said: 'This (prohibition) applies to cases where the ground (in the place used for washing) was soft. But nowadays this does not apply, because the baths you use now are built of plaster, Saruj and tar; so if a person urinates there then pours water over it, that clears it away, and that is fine.'

رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: کوئی بھی شخص اپنے غسل خانہ میں قطعاً پیشاب نہ کرے، اس لیے کہ اکثر وسوسے اسی سے پیدا ہوتے ہیں ۔ ابو عبداللہ ابن ماجہ کہتے ہیں: میں نے علی ابن محمد التنفیسی کو کہتے سنا: یہ صرف حوض پر لاگو ہوتا ہے، لیکن آج نہیں۔ ان کے حمام پلاسٹر، مارٹر اور تارکول سے بنے ہیں۔ اگر کوئی پیشاب کر کے اس پر پانی ڈال دے تو اس میں کوئی حرج نہیں۔

The Messenger of Allah came to the garbage dump of some people and urinated while standing up. (Hasan) Shu'bah said: That day, 'Asim said: 'Amash reported this from Abu Wa'il, from Hudhaifah رضی اللہ عنہ , but he did not remember it (correctly). So I asked Mansur about it, and he narrated it to me from Abu Wa'il, from Hudhaifah رضی اللہ عنہ, that the Prophet came to a dump of some people and urinated while standing.'

رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ایک قوم کے کوڑا خانہ پر آئے اور کھڑے ہو کر پیشاب کیا۔ شعبہ نے کہا کہ عاصم نے اس دن کہا تھا اور یہ العمش ہیں جنہوں نے ابو وائل کی سند سے حذیفہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت کی ہے اور اسے یاد نہیں تھا۔ چنانچہ میں نے منصور سے اس کے بارے میں پوچھا تو انہوں نے مجھے ابو وائل سے حذیفہ رضی اللہ عنہ کی روایت سے بتایا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ایک کوڑے کے ڈھیر پر تشریف لائے جو کچھ لوگوں کے پاس تھا اور کھڑے ہو کر پیشاب کیا۔
