He came to Ubayy bin Ka'b رضی اللہ عنہ accompanied by 'Umar رضی اللہ عنہ . Ubayy came out to them and said: I noticed some prostatic fluid, so I washed my penis and performed ablution. 'Umar رضی اللہ عنہ said: Is that sufficient? He said: Yes. He ('Umar) asked: Did you hear that from the messenger of Allah? He said: Yes.

وہ عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کے ہمراہ ابی بن کعب رضی اللہ عنہ کے ہاں گئے۔ وہ ( گھر سے ) باہر تشریف لائے۔ ( بات چیت کے دوران ان میں ابی نے ) فرمایا: مجھے مذی آ گئی تھی تو میں نے عضو خاص کو دھو کر وضو کیا ہے ( اس لیے باہر آنے میں دیر ہوئی ) عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے فرمایا: کیا یہ ( وضو کر لینا ) کافی ہوتا ہے؟ انہوں نے کہا: جی ہاں! فرمایا: کیا آپ نے یہ مسئلہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے ( خود ) سنا ہے؟ انہوں نے کہا: جی ہاں۔

I was listening to 'Abdullah bin 'Umar bin Khattab رضی اللہ عنہما in the mosque, and when the time for prayer came, he got up, performed ablution, and offered prayer, then he went back to where he had been sitting. When the time for 'Asr (Afternnon prayer) came, he got up, performed ablution, and offered prayer, then he went back to where he had been sitting. When the time for Maghrib (Sunset prayer) came, he got up, performed ablution, and offered prayer, then he went back to where he had been sitting. I said: 'May Allah improve you (i.e., your condition) Is it obligatory or Sunnah to perform ablution for every prayer?' He said: 'Did you notice that?' I said: 'Yes.' He said: 'No (it is not obligatory). If I perform ablution for Morning prayer I can perform all of the prayers with this ablution, so as long as I do not get impure. But I heard the Messenger of Allah say: Whoever performs ablution while he is pure, he will have ten merits. So I wanted to earn the merits.'

میں نے مسجد میں عبداللہ بن عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ عنہما سے ان کی مجلس میں سنا، پھر جب نماز کا وقت ہوا، تو وہ اٹھے وضو کیا، اور نماز ادا کی، پھر مجلس میں دوبارہ حاضر ہوئے، پھر جب عصر کا وقت آیا تو اٹھے وضو کیا، اور نماز پڑھی، پھر اپنی مجلس میں واپس آئے، پھر جب مغرب کا وقت ہوا تو اٹھے وضو کیا، اور نماز ادا کی پھر اپنی مجلس میں دوبارہ حاضر ہوئے تو میں نے کہا: اللہ آپ کو سلامت رکھے، کیا یہ وضو ( ہر نماز کے لیے ) فرض ہے یا سنت؟ کہا: کیا تم نے میرے اس کام کو سمجھ لیا اور یہ سمجھا ہے کہ یہ میں نے اپنی طرف سے کیا ہے؟ میں نے کہا: جی ہاں، بولے: نہیں، ( ہر نماز کے لیے وضو کرنا فرض نہیں ) اگر میں نماز فجر کے لیے وضو کرتا تو اس سے وضو نہ ٹوٹنے تک ساری نماز پڑھتا، لیکن میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو فرماتے ہوئے سنا ہے: جس شخص نے وضو ہوتے ہوئے وضو کیا، تو اس کے لیے دس نیکیاں ہیں ، اور مجھ کو ان نیکیوں ہی کا شوق ہے۔

A complaint was made to the Prophet about a man who sensed something (some doubt about his ablution) during prayer. He said: 'No (he does not have to perform ablution) unless he notices a smell or hears a sound.'

We came to a pond in which there was the carcass of a donkey, so we refrained from using the water until the Messenger of Allah came to us and said: 'Water is not made impure by anything.' Then we drank from it and gave it to our animals to drink, and we carried some with us.

The Prophet said concerning the urine of a nursing infant: Water should be sprinkled over the urine of a boy, and the urine of a girl should be washed. Abul-Hasan bin Salamah said: Ahmad bin Musa bin Ma'qil narrated to us that Abul-Yaman Al-Misri said: 'I asked Shafi'i about the Hadith of the Prophet, Water should be sprinkled over the urine of a baby boy, and the urine of a baby girl should be washed, when the two types of water (urine) are the same. He said, This is because the urine of the boy is of water and clay, but the urine of the girl is of flesh and blood. Then he said to me: Did you understand? I said: No. He said: When Allah the Most High created Adam, He created Eve (Hawwa') from his short rib, so the boy's urine is from water and clay, and the girl's urine is from flesh and blood. Then he said to me: Did you understand? I said: Yes. He said: May Allah cause you benefit from this.

دودھ پلانے والے بچے کے پیشاب کے بارے میں نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: لڑکے کے پیشاب پر پانی چھڑکنا چاہیے اور لڑکی کے پیشاب کو دھونا چاہیے۔ ابوالحسن بن سلمہ نے کہا کہ ہم سے احمد بن موسیٰ بن معقل نے بیان کیا کہ ابوالایمان المصری نے کہا کہ میں نے شافعی سے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی حدیث کے بارے میں پوچھا کہ بچے کے پیشاب پر پانی چھڑکنا چاہیے اور بچی کے پیشاب کو دھونا چاہیے جب کہ دونوں قسم کا پانی ایک ہی ہو۔ فرمایا اس لیے کہ لڑکے کا پیشاب پانی اور مٹی کا ہے لیکن لڑکی کا پیشاب گوشت اور خون کا ہے۔پھر مجھ سے فرمایا: کیا تم سمجھ گئے؟ میں نے کہا: نہیں، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: جب اللہ تعالیٰ نے آدم علیہ السلام کو پیدا کیا تو حوا کو ان کی چھوٹی پسلی سے پیدا کیا، تو لڑکے کا پیشاب پانی اور مٹی سے ہے اور لڑکی کا پیشاب گوشت اور خون سے ہے۔ پھر مجھ سے فرمایا: کیا تم سمجھ گئے؟ میں نے کہا: ہاں۔ آپ نے فرمایا: اللہ تعالیٰ تمہیں اس سے فائدہ دے۔

I was a servant of the Prophet, and Hasan and Husain was brought to him and (the infant) urinated on his chest. They wanted to wash it, but the Messenger of Allah said: 'Sprinkle water on it, for the urine of a girl should be washed, but the urine of a boy should be sprinkled over with water.'
