The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said to me; Get me the mat from the mosque. I said ; I am menstruating. The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم then replied: Your menstruation is not in your hand.

A woman asked Aishah رضی اللہ عنہا : should a menstruating woman complete the prayer abandoned during the period of menses? Aishah said: Are you a Haruriyyah? During menstruation in the time of the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم we would not complete (the abandoned prayers), nor were we commanded to complete them.

ایک عورت نے ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے پوچھا: کیا حائضہ نماز کی قضاء کرے گی؟ تو اس پر آپ نے کہا: کیا تو حروریہ ہے ۱؎؟ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی موجودگی میں ہمیں حیض آتا تھا تو ہم نماز کی قضاء نہیں کرتے تھے اور نہ ہی ہمیں قضاء کا حکم دیا جاتا تھا۔

From the prophet ﷺ, regarding the one who approaches his wife while she is menstruating. He said: "He should give one Dinar, in charity." Abu Dawood said: This is how the correct wording for the narration is: "one Dinar or half a Dinar." And perhaps Shubah (a narrators in the chain) did not narrate it in a Marfu' form.

If one has intercourse in the beginning of the menses, (one should give) one dinar; in case one has intercourse towards the end of the menses, then half a dinar (should be given). Abu Dawood said: And this is who Ibn Juraij said it (in what he reported) from Abu-Karim, from Miqsam.

The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم as saying; when a man has intercourse with his wife while she is menstruating, he must give half a dinar in alms. Abu Dawud said; Ali bin Budhaimah reported similarly on the authority of Miqsam from the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم. Al-Awza’I narrated from Yazid bin Abi Malik, from Abdul-Hamid bin Abdur-Rahman from the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم; He ordered him to give two fifth of a dinar in alms. But this is a chain where two narrators (Miqsam and Ibn Abbas) are missing.

نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: جب آدمی اپنی بیوی سے حالت حیض میں جماع کرے تو آدھا دینار صدقہ کرے ۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: اور اسی طرح علی بن بذیمہ نے مقسم سے، انہوں نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے مرسلاً روایت کی ہے، اور اوزاعی نے یزید ابن ابی مالک سے، یزید نے عبدالحمید بن عبدالرحمٰن سے، عبدالحمید نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے روایت کی کہ آپ نے انہیں دو خمس دینار صدقہ کرنے کا حکم فرمایا، اور یہ روایت معضل ہے۔

The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم would contact and embrace any of his wives while she was menstruating. She would wear the wrapper up to half the the thighs or cover her knees with it.

I and the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم used to pass night in one (piece of) cloth (on me) while I menstruated profusely. If anything from me (i.e. blood) smeared him (i.e. his body), he would wash that spot and would not exceed it (in washing), then he would offer prayer with it.

Umarah Ibn Ghurab said that his paternal aunt narrated to him that she asked Aishah رضی اللہ عنہا : What if one of us menstruates and she and her husband have no bed except one? She replied: I relate to you what the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم had done. One night he entered (upon me) while I was menstruating. He went to the place of his prayer, that is, to the place of prayer reserved (for this purpose) in his house. He did not return until I felt asleep heavily, and he felt pain from cold. And he said: Come near me. I said: I am menstruating. He said: Uncover your thighs. I, therefore, uncovered both of my thighs. Then he put his cheek and chest on my thighs and I lent upon he until he became warm and slept.

ہم میں سے ایک عورت کو حیض آتا ہے، اور اس کے اور اس کے شوہر کے پاس صرف ایک ہی بچھونا ہے ( ایسی صورت میں وہ حائضہ عورت کیا کرے؟ ) ، ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے کہا: میں تمہیں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا عمل بتاتی ہوں، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم گھر میں تشریف لائے اور اپنی نماز پڑھنے کی جگہ میں چلے گئے ( ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: مسجد سے مراد گھر کے اندر نماز کی جگہ مصلی ہے ) آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے نماز سے فارغ ہونے سے پہلے پہلے مجھے نیند آ گئی، ادھر آپ کو سردی نے ستایا تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: تم میرے قریب آ جاؤ ، تو میں نے کہا: میں حائضہ ہوں، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: تم اپنی ران کھولو ، میں نے اپنی رانیں کھول دیں، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اپنا رخسار اور سینہ میری ران پر رکھ دیا، میں اوپر سے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم پر جھک گئی، یہاں تک کہ آپ کو گرمی پہنچ گئی، اور سو گئے۔

In the time of the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم there was a woman who had an issue of blood. So Umm Salamah رضی اللہ عنہا asked the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم to give a decision about her. He said: She should consider the number of nights and days during which she used to menstruate each month before she was afflicted with this trouble and abandon prayer during that period each month. When those days and nights are over, she should take a bath, tie a cloth over her private parts and pray.

رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے زمانے میں ایک عورت کو استحاضہ کا خون آتا تھا، تو ام سلمہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے اس کے لیے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے مسئلہ پوچھا، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: اس عورت کو چاہیئے کہ اس بیماری کے لاحق ہونے سے پہلے مہینے کی ان راتوں اور دنوں کی تعداد کو جن میں اسے حیض آتا تھا ذہن میں رکھ لے اور ( ہر ) ماہ اسی کے بقدر نماز چھوڑ دے، پھر جب یہ دن گزر جائیں تو غسل کرے، پھر کپڑے کا لنگوٹ باندھ لے پھر اس میں نماز پڑھے ۔

A man reported to him from Umm Salamah رضی اللہ عنہا ; There was a woman who had an issue of blood. And he narrated the rest of the tradition to the same effect saying; when the menstruation period is over and the time of prayer arrives, she should take a bath, as mentioned in the previous tradition.

On the authority of a person from the Ansar; There was a woman who had an issue of blood. He then narrated the rest of the tradition like that of al-Laith. He said; when the period of menstruation is over and the time of prayer arrives, she should take a bath. He narrated the tradition conveying the same meaning.

Abu Dawud said; Hammad bin Zaid on the authority of Ayyub has pointed out the name of the woman who had a prolonged flow of blood (referred to) in this tradition to be Fatimah daughter of Abi Hubaish.

Umm Habibah رضی اللہ عنہا asked the prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم about the blood (which flows beyond the period of menstruation). Aishah رضی اللہ عنہا said: I saw her wash-tub full of blood. The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said; Keep away (from prayer) equal (to the length of time) that your menses prevented you. Then wash yourself. Abu Dawud said: Qutaibah mentioned the name Jaffar bin Rabiah in the middle of the text of the tradition for the second time (i.e., Qutaibah, being doubtful about the narrator Jafar bin Rabiah, mentioned his name twice: once in the chain and again while reporting the text). Ali bin Ayyash and yunus bin Muhammad reported it on the authority of al-Laith. They mentioned the name Jafar bin Rabiah.

ام المؤمنین ام حبیبہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے ( استحاضہ ) کے خون کے بارے میں سوال کیا، عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ میں نے ان کے لگن کو خون سے بھرا دیکھا، تو ان سے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: جتنے دنوں تک تمہیں تمہارا حیض پہلے روکتا تھا اسی کے بقدر رکی رہو، پھر غسل کرو ۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: اور اسے قتیبہ نے جعفر بن ربیعہ کی حدیث کے آخر میں بین السطور یا حاشیہ میں روایت کیا ہے نیز اسے علی بن عیاش، اور یونس بن محمد نے لیث سے روایت کیا ہے، اور دونوں نے ( جعفر کے بجائے ) جعفر بن ربیعہ کہا ہے۔

Fatimah daughter of Abu Hubaysh narrated to him that she asked the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم and complained to him about the flowing of (her) blood. The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said to her: That is only (due to) a vein: look, when your menstruation comes, do not pray; and when your menstruation ends, wash yourself and then offer prayer during the period from one menstruation to another.

فاطمہ بنت ابی حبیش رضی اللہ عنہا نے ان سے بیان کیا کہ انہوں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے ( استحاضہ کے ) خون آنے کی شکایت کی اور مسئلہ پوچھا، تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان سے فرمایا: یہ تو صرف ایک رگ ہے، پس تم دیکھتی رہو، جب تمہیں حیض آ جائے تو نماز نہ پڑھو، پھر جب حیض ختم ہو جائے تو غسل کرو، پھر دوسرا حیض آنے تک نماز پڑھتی رہو ۔
