Narrator: The same hadith is mentioned through a different chain except it ends where it mentions that Allah revealed the verses and it does not mention the verses. There is also a slight variation in words. A similar report (as no. 32) was narrated from Az-Zuhri with this chain, expect that:
وحَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، وَعَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، قَالَا: أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، ح وحَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ الْحُلْوَانِيُّ، وَعَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ وَهُوَ ابْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ صَالِحٍ، كِلَاهُمَا عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ مِثْلَهُ، غَيْرَ أَنَّ حَدِيثَ صَالِحٍ انْتَهَى عِنْدَ قَوْلِهِ: فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فِيهِ، وَلَمْ يَذْكُرِ الْآيَتَيْنِ، وَقَالَ فِي حَدِيثِهِ: وَيَعُودَانِ فِي تِلْكَ الْمَقَالَةِ، وَفِي حَدِيثِ مَعْمَرٍ مَكَانَ هَذِهِ الْكَلِمَةِ فَلَمْ يَزَالَا بِهِ.

The Hadith of Salih ended with the words, "And Allah revealed concerning him, and he did not quote the two Verses. "And repeating this statement." And in the narration of Mamar, in place of this statement' is the words: 'And he did not cease.'

فأنزل الله فيه ’’اس کےبارے میں اللہ تعالیٰ نے آیت اتاری ‘ ‘ پر ختم ہو گئی ، انہوں نے دو آیتیں بیان نہیں کیں ۔ انہوں نے اپنی حدیث میں یہ بھی کہا کہ وہ دونوں ( ابوجہل اور عبد اللہ بن ابی امیہ ) یہی بات دہراتے رہے ۔ معمر کی روایت میں المقالة ( بات ) کے بجائے الكلمة ( کلمہ ) ہے ، وہ دونوں ان کے ساتھ لگے رہے ۔
